Hourly Manager Job Description for DPS Food and Nutrition Services

Summary of Position:

Monitors and participates in the preparation and service of school meals for students and adults. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensures that meals served conform to planned menus or that emergency substitutions comply with meal pattern requirements
  2. Supervises the food service staff by preparing work schedules, assigning and directing work, training, enforcing work production standards, evaluating work performance, and recommending disciplinary action, if necessary. 
  3. Sets up serving lines and serves meals or meal components.
  4. Accepts money for food and beverages served during the day.
  5. Cleans and sanitizes in accordance to approved housekeeping and safety practices for the following:  pots/pans/utensils, counters and prep tables, dish room and restroom facilities, tables and chairs in lunchroom and kitchen floors.
  6. Operates, cleans and sanitizes all kitchen equipment.
  7. Follows approved housekeeping and safety practices to ensure that safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen, food-serving areas, and in dining area.
  8. Stores food and supplies in accordance with instructions.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Knowledge of basic elementary bookworking.
  3. Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  4. Adheres to standards of sanitation and safety.
  5. Knowledge of kitchen equipment.
  6. Demonstrated ability to cook, bake and cashier.
  7. Must have reliable transportation.
  8. Evaluations – must have scored average or above in all categories.
  9. Successful completion of the DPS food services training classes and Manager Training Program.
  10. Recommendation of your supervisor.
  11. Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
  12. Demonstrates a strong knowledge of safety and sanitation guidelines, including HACCP.
