Ingredients:

  • 3/4 lb. lean ground beef
  • 3/4 lb. lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 c. catsup
  • 1 egg
  • 5 T. oatmeal
  • 2 tsp. parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation:

  1. Mix until well blended: ground beef and ground turkey, catsup (reserving 2 Tbsp. for the topping), eggs, oatmeal, diced onions, parsley, pepper, garlic, basil, oregano, and salt.
  2. Shape the mixture into a loaf; press mixture into a loaf pan. Keep the top smooth.
  3. Spread 2 Tbsp. catsup over the top of the loaf to retain moisture.
  4. Bake in a 300°F oven for 1 hour 15 minutes (internal temperature must be 165°F on a thermometer inserted in the center of the loaf).
  5. Drain fat from the pan, let meat loaf rest for 20 minutes, slice in 8 pieces, and then serve. Makes 8 servings.
