Purchasing

  • Provide food and supplies for approximately lunches 6,480,000 and 1,620,000 breakfasts annually

Responsibilities

  • Purchases all food, supplies and smallwares for site-to-site delivery from our warehouse
  • Establish contracts for the vendor site to site delivery for dairy products, a la carte items and sanitation services
  • Government commodities to include produce and the processing of allocated commodities
  • Assists in menu planning and inventory control

Technical Services

  • Software and hardware support
  • Provides helpdesk site support

  • Creates and maintains department websites

Vending

Did You Know Facts:
  • Staff of 4 employees
  • Maintains 116 vending machines
  • Fleet of 4 vehicles
  • Nutrition is a "hot topic" right now in the food services industry, 85% of the food items sold in our vending machines meet our nutrition standards. Our nutrition standards are that items sold in the schools will contain no more than:
  • 35% fat calories
  • 35% sugar by weight
  • 10% saturated fat

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, supports and stocks food service vending machines
  • Maintains vending inventory
  • When the new Pepsi contract was initiated in 2003, Food and Nutrition Services was given the responsibility to manage the contract and ensure fiscal and nutritional integrity were maintained.
  • Food and Nutrition Services provides $25,000 worth of Pepsi products, at no cost to the schools, for their special events, proms, student carnivals, etc.

Profits are shared with the principals for machines located in the hallways of schools.


Warehouse & Distribution

Did You Know Facts:
  • Staff of 13 part time 22 full time employees
  • Stocks approximately 3 million dollars worth of inventory in 35,000 sq. ft warehouse space
  • Maintains fleet of 40 vehicles

    Responsibilities:
  • Receives product from vendors 
  • Provide food, supplies and support for 156 schools
  • Delivers food daily from preparation site to satellite schools and numerous support facilities 
  • Assists the equipment maintenance department with relocation of large and small kitchen equipment
