Black Excellence Plan
Black Excellence Plans: Black Excellence Plans are required of DPS schools as of the 2020-21 school year. Each school has created a plan that is tailored to their student population and involves a deep dive into student outcome data to address disproportionalities across student populations, primarily in special education, Gifted and Talented and discipline.
Vision
To implement inclusive practices for Black students in our building that support rigorous content and their ultimate academic success.
Goals
To increase the percentage of Black students at or above grade level in early literacy from 32% to 50%.
To increase the percentage of Black students who score Met or Exceeded on CMAS math from 8% to 14%.
Progress Monitoring
Review progress monitoring data to track students' progress monthly in both early literacy and math.
Tier 1 Instruction
Through weekly/daily coaching structures and Professional Development, ensure students are receiving strong first instruction.
Response to Data
Highlight Black students as part of our weekly DDI process to ensure they are making progress and teachers are planning for their success.
